The 2020 Le Mas des Flauzières Gigondas Grande Réserve is FULL-THROTTLE Gigondas! This Southern Rhone family-run estate - founded in 1919 at the foot of Mont Ventoux - has been working its magic across everything from sandy, pebble-studded valley floors to the clay-limestone slopes near the Dentelles. In 2020, the hot, dry season turned up the ripeness, giving gorgeous, concentrated fruitwithout losing that iconic Rhône fresh factor. Their Grande Réserve is the crown jewel (but you knew that already) - old-vine power, layered complexity, and enough structure to age like a champ!

The gutsy blend is 50% old vine Grenache, 25% Mourvèdre and wraps with 25% Syrah. Alcohol remains full throttle at 15%, but the heat is lost in the glass. Gorgeous on the nose and even better with food (give it a go with venison, wild boar or for the grocery-store crowd – braised short ribs).

This wine nails the essence of Gigondas. Powerful yet polished, with Grenache bringing ripe fruit, Mourvèdre adding gamey depth, and Syrah proving a peppery backbone. The 2020 vintage delivers serious concentration, rounded out by barrel aging. Aromas of blackcurrant, plum, and dark berries mingle with pumpkin pie spice with just a smidge of smoky oak. The palate is full-bodied and dense, layering, concentrated black fruit, and spice over a firm but elegant structure.
