Don’t get us wrong, we’re willing to pay for stellar White Burgundy, but we personally believe paying top dollar for premier and Grand Cru wines and not laying them down for at least a decade makes little to no sense. Great wine needs time, and if you’re gonna shell out big bucks for greatness, you need to exercise the patience to let it mature into its perfect state.

But there is superb White Burg that doesn’t have to lay down to be appreciated, and Domaine Thomas’ 2019 rendition from Saint-Véran is the perfect example of entry level juice that punches way above its price tag.

The crystalline nature of this wine is what makes it stand out among the crowd. Grown from estate vineyards in southern Burgundy, this hails from a single block that faces southwest, and the 40-50 year old vines are ripe in concentration and personality. The soils are a mix of limestone and clay, perfect for making world class Chardonnay from the region that does it better than anyone. The wine sees no oak, and is vinified for 7 months in stainless steel to maintain its purity.

Bursting with ripe and energetic aromas of green apple, lemon zest, key limes, chalk, wet stones, and hints of smoke, this is hands down our new favorite everyday white. It’s an absolute citrus-laced mineral bomb that blows the doors off wines twice its regular price, and we’ve got it for a screaming deal that seems too good to be true.

But it’s not.

Your new favorite White Burgundy.

And trust when we say you’re gonna want to buy a ticket to this show.

It’s a small price to pay for vinous brilliance.
