Epiphany Revelation Red 2017
Technically, it’s in the bottle, but you catch our drift.
Eli Parker’s brainchild Epiphany Cellars has become something of a juggernaut, focusing on varieties inspired by his travels and affinity for the Rhône Valley. He has long been considered by critics to be a flagship producer of this region, and the Central Coast couldn’t be happier than to have Epiphany as one of its shining stars.
The 2017 Epiphany Red is a stellar, Rhône inspired blend where Grenache drives the wagon, but the Syrah plays an integral part of the equation. The two grapes meld effortlessly together, and given they both grow in different parts of Rodney’s Vineyard, it’s no surprise these two varieties make excellent bedfellows.
Super expressive and powerful right out the gate, this is pure Central Coast hedonism full of force, fruit and firepower. Dark red fruits, smoked meats, roasted earth, black pepper, wild blackberries and spiced cedar make for one helluva start to the show, with a palate full of dense fruit and toasty oak.
Antonio Galloni even called the 2017 Epiphany Revelation Red one of the most successful wines of the vintage, which is quite the statement if you consider how much he tastes from the Golden State.
Red blends from anywhere always get our attention, and value always reigns supreme with this category. Santa Barabara’s climate is perfectly suited to help all grapes ripen to their fullest potential, and it’s no surprise this wine reinforces that point in spades.
Big, rich, plush and powerful all rolled into a bottle of sensational wine from the heart of Santa Barbara wine country.
The 2017 Revelation Rodney's Vineyard, 51% Grenache and 49% Syrah, is positively stellar. Deep, layered and beautifully resonant in the glass, the 2017 is so expressive today. The finish alone is striking, but really everything about the 2017 elevates it to one of the most successful wines of the year.
