Frisson Toucher Vineyards Proprietary Red 2018
A moment of pure liquid excitement.
That’s what the team at Frisson (pronounced Free-Sone) wants you to know before you pop the cork.
And based on our experience, let us say right now that they’re spot on with their intent.
A French word meaning a moment of intense excitement, this word perfectly describes this winery’s story and philosophy, while reinforcing the exact vibe you get once the juice hits your lips. A style that features and exemplifies the energy of the New World, dialed in with the sophistication and substance of the Old World essence.
With relationships deeply rooted throughout the Napa Valley, the Proprietary Red brings the best of a single Napa Valley appellation and Bordeaux varieties into one harmonious liquid offering that’s too good to pass up!
Sourced from a single site on the valley floor, Cabernet, Merlot, and Petit Verdot come together to produce a sensational melange of fruit and flavor that is an absolute force to be reckoned with. Opulent aromas of cassis, blackberries, currant, graphite, sage, and spiced vanillin lead into an unctuous palate full of ripe fruits, spiced tobacco, crushed rocks, and keen acidity, all framed by focused, fine-grained tannins that finish with exceptional purity.
The texture is downright delectable, and we’re willing to bet you’ll be visiting the bottom of the bottle in no time. An absolutely stellar find for those seeking Napa valley pedigree at a price that’ll have your head spinning.
Throw in a vintage for the ages and you have a liquid rendition worthy of a serious standing ovation. Discovering a winery like this is what got us into the business in the first place, and we’re thrilled to get to share it with you!
A whopping 95 point score is only the more reason to get in on the ground level, and make no mistake, we’re punching our ticket to the top floor and this beauty is along for the ride!
From a valley-floor vineyard off the Silverado Trail, this blend of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 7% Petit Verdot had us mesmerized with its perfume of sage and sandalwood. A flash of dark plum and fig brings in a plush mouthfeel, where black-peppered boysenberry leads the charge. It’s energetic and well structured, with supple tannins, fruit-driven brightness, a depth of graphite and oak, and marvelous balance.
