We find ourselves ordering it more and more when we go out in Napa Valley, and yes, we know Cab is King around these parts, but we just can’t help ourselves.
It’s just soooooooo good!
Nebbiolo has a power and personality all its own, and has a magical way of transporting your soul and senses to the hills of Piedmont with every sip. And when the Nebbiolo we’re drinking has 10 years of age under its belt, it’s no wonder why we stop what we’re doing and put all of our focus on this fabulous wine.
The 2012 Bel Colle Barolo Riserva is the wine we’re talking about, and somehow, someway, we have this perfectly aged beauty for the taking at a pittance.
92 Points from James Suckling only sweetens the deal. Sourced from Crus Boscatto and Monvigliero (two of the region’s best), the fruit has been kissed by vinous deities, and now rests in the bottle for you to imbibe. And 2012 was a stellar vintage that those in the know have been clamoring about for the last decade.
This 10-year-old Piedmontese marvel has so much going on it's scary! Spiced currants, cherries, truffles, orange peel, hints of rose petals, balsamic-laced minerals and tar are just the beginning. As the wine opens in the glass, pipe tobacco, porcini mushrooms, wild sage, saddle leather and spiced earth continue to evolve, showcasing the bombastic qualities of this aged beauty.
Piedmont Riserva perfection priced to move!
This won’t last… act accordingly.
A mature Barolo with aromas and flavors of balsamic-tinged berry and currant fruit, truffle-like dried mushroom and marmalade. Medium-to full-bodied with well-integrated tannins. What hits you about this is the fresh, minerally character that overrides the more decadent fruit character. Plenty of life here. This will continue to age well. Drink or hold.
