Loire who? Lodi just dropped one of the juiciest Cab Francs in CA!! Kautz & Kramer’s 2019 estate Cabernet Franc radiates Lodi sunshine and old-farm charm. Sourced from Block 72 at Sheldon Ranch (once a lowly hop farm) on volcanic clay soils in the Sloughhouse AVA, it ripens under the Cosumnes River’s cooling influence. Bursting with concentrated fruit and balanced structure, briefly aged in oak to keep it fresh, this wine is proof that Lodi’s reds deserve the spotlight.

Kautz & Kramer is a family legacy built on passion and perseverance. John Kautz, son of German immigrants, and Gail Kramer married in 1958 and transformed their Lodi farm into a pioneer of premium wine grapes, crafting a tradition of dedication, innovation, and stalwart love for the land.

Hand-harvested at night to keep things cool, this particular 100% Cab Franc comes from 100+ year-old vines farmed sustainably to produce a dangerously drinkable, pair-it-with-anything Lodi red. Bursting with black cherry and fresh currant aromas, this wine layers in vanilla bean, nutmeg, fig, and a dash of black licorice. The palate is plush and juicy, finishing long with ripe blackberry and raspberry notes that linger. Give it a go with grilled anything (burgers, brats, portobellos) or a bag of chocolate covered almonds and Netflix.

Lodi reds … because great wine doesn’t need a fancy French accent.

This wine is concentrated, with aromas of Black currant compote, Blackberry pie, graham cracker crust, spiced vanilla and clove on the nose. The flavors on the palate are Black cherry cream, Black plums, cardamom, lime vanilla crème, morphing into dried sage, earth and a long, supple, finish. Pair with Beef Brisket
