The Pasanau family are stalwarts of Priorat. 

Their vineyards are located in the highest region of the land, skirting the rock wall of the Sierra de Montsant which serves as the northern and western boundary of the appellation. 

At over 2,400 feet above sea level, Pasanau’s “Finca La Planeta” dominates the regional landscape, and helps the fruit maintain a certain high altitude edge that you can only find from fruit that lives among the clouds and gods. 

Think about that. 2,400 feet above sea level.

Just thinking about it makes our noses bleed.

Wines from this region are bold, full of concentration, and are backed by an underbelly of minerals that have helped define what makes them so distinct.

A blend of Grenache, Cabernet Sauvignon, Mazuelo, Merlot, and Syrah, the dark ruby color coats the glass, delivering a gothic liquid rendition of epic proportions. Layers of wild blackberries, chocolate, pipe tobacco, crushed slate, red berries and spiced vanilla make for a scintillating entry, all backed by rugged minerals that come from the adjacent rocky mountains. These are old vines, some dating back 100 years, so the fruit is wound tight and ripe in concentration and sophistication. A finish of spiced cedar, dark red and black fruits, and hints of oak round out a sensual palate.
